Flying into France has never been cheaper. It is now a cost effective option
to fly to France and hire a car for the period of your holiday. We've put a few links to carriers and
car rentals at the bottom of this page. Or you can look at all the links we maintain at
our links
page. Watch out for those miserly baggage allowances, however!
Only our nearest airports are listed here - others that might be considered include Poitiers & Angoulême. We'll be only too happy to list your recommendations if you'll forward them on to us.

Bergerac-Roumaniere aerodrome is a delightful means of entry into France. Lying to the south of Bergerac, it has been recently reprieved as a destination by Ryanair, to the detriment of Bordeaux, and lies some 66 miles to our south. Whilst not being as close as other airports, it is an easy drive up the N21. The aerodrome has plentiful car hire facilities, but you are advised to book in advance. Serviced by Ryanair, Air France and Flybe

Périgueux-Basillac is a friendly and easy to reach little airport to the south of us (you'll pretty much drive past it if you come in via Bergerac), it is an even easier drive up the N21. Rumours abounded that Buzz were eyeing this as a destination airport but alas! Buzz are no more. Serviced by Air France. We remain hopeful that one of the budget airlines will spot this lovely little airport in the near future, which is why we're maintaining a "placeholder" here for it.

Limoges-Bellegarde is by far and away our favourite airport. Only 28 miles to the north of us, it lies to the west of Limoges and is serviced by both Ryanair and Flybe. A very easy route avoiding the city leads through Aixe-sur-Vienne and historic Châlus on the D20 straight to la Coquille before turning onto the Saint-Priest-les-Fougères road.

Bordeaux-Mérignac is within easy reach, the motorway link between Bordeaux and Périgueux having now been completed. The journey takes no more than two hours and is a very easy route to follow. This is a major international airport so all the major airlines fly here but there are one or two of the budget airlines now flying here.
There are, of course, many ways of finding cheap air travel on the 'net. But we've put a few links here that might help you. We'd like to think we're a one-stop shop for all your holiday needs! If you want to recommend any other links to us, we'd be only too delighted to include them here.

easyJet. Everyone surely knows of this budget airline. But did you know they operate a service into Bordeaux? We find Stansted airport a bit too much to bear, but London Luton is a much more attractive proposition. Here's hoping they expand further into France in the future! |

First Luggage, who will transport your luggage separately for you. The airlines, particualrly the budget ones, are beginning to charge extra for those who travel with hold luggage. This scheme may prove to be a worthwhile alternative. Warning - we've never actually used these yet, so you'll have to do your own research to see if it's worthwhile. Please let us know your findings! |
